Aprašymas

This hilarious book has vigorous dashes of humor with time-outs for insightful observations of Finnishness. This book of quips and queries about all matters Finnish is more of a continuation of rather than a sequel to Hillila's earlier FinnFun, and it is indeed more. Some quotes: ..". we say Finns are extremists, but we also claim Finns have a lot of common sense." "To give our children wings, we first let them see their roots." Each section is punctuated by a previously published poem or poems. This book makes a cherished addition to personal collections as well as a thoughtful gift. Previously professor emeritus of education at Valparaiso University, now deceased, Hillila has donned a Lutheran pastor's vestments in bilingual congregations of the Suomi Synod and put on the doctoral hood and other academic regalia; he has won the proper suit and tie of the Finlandia Foundation's "Performer of the Year," the casual attire of a poet and stand-up comedian, and the elk-soled pigskin shoes of an accomplished wire walker. He is listed in "Who's Who in America" and has authored nine books, including both prose and poetry. These accomplishments are reflected in his store of keen observations.
